GA4 Instructions

 

In order to have phone call data sent to GA4, you need to provide us with two pieces of information:

  1. Your measurement id
  2. An API secret key

To find these pieces of information follow step 1.

 

You will also need two custom definitions these are made up of two customer dimensions.

  1. call_details = scope set to event
  2. location_details = scope set to event

go to step 2 to understand the steps to take.

Step 1)

Measurement ID

To find your measurement id you will need to login to GA4 and go to the admin section gear symbol at the bottom left of the screen, click on data streams, and then click on your website. You will then be presented with the web stream details screen, we require the measurement id that will be a G followed by a string of numbers like "G-12ABC3DE4F" please copy this id and pass this over to us in a support ticket with your API secret key.

Stay on the same screen you are on for the Measurement id and scroll down till you see the words measurement protocol API secrets, click this section

You will be present with the Api secret screen copy and paste to us the secret value back to us.

Step 2) You will also need two custom definitions these are made up of two customer dimensions.

Go to configure > Custom definitions > create dimensions> create custom dimensions

 

Enter the below details and then save

Click on create custom dimensions and fill out the fields on screen with the below info and save

Once all the information has been provided to the Calltracks support team and the Calltracks support team confirm the GA4 push has been set up. After 24 hours you will be able to see the conversion in GA4by going to configure > events and you should see an event similar to the one below, you will need to check this to record the events in GA4.

If you do not see the event in GA4 after 24 hours, please get in touch with us, so we can investigate further.
